Welcome To Our Chapter Site!
Charter Date: April 7, 1982
This site is dedicated to the memory of Ms. Sandra Ward, founder and first advisor to Alpha Eta Phi Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa.
Sandra Ward, Psychology Instructor and former Phi Theta Kappan, was the founder of the chapter, Alpha Eta Phi. After leaving
the college to pursue her doctorate, Mr. Raybon Bone led the chapter until 1994. At that time, Dr. Pocahontas Jones took the
reins and in 1997, Ms. Katherine Sandlin became co-advisor. Ms. Toinette Whitaker became a co-advisor in 2003 and Dr. Jones
retired from service in 2004. Dr. Erica Meredith served as advisor for a short time in 2004. Under the leadership of Dr. Jones,
the chapter began participating in the Five Star Level program. The chapter started with achieving Star Level One in 1997,
and continued to rise to Star Level Two in 1998 and 1999 and finally reached Star Level Five in 2000. Five Star status is
the goal every chapter wants to achieve but every year brings new possibilities as well as challenges and obstacles. Our chapter
has not maintained five star status every year, but we strive for it and have made it 3 out of the last 4 years. The Officers
contribute a great deal to the success of the chapter and are to be commended for their leadership and creative talents. The
past eight years, the members have worked hard to achieve their goals and advisors have been supportive and encouraging in
each and every endeavor. We look forward to another successful year in 2005-06.
